MSU Graphics and Media Lab. was established in 1999 as a part of Computer Science department of Moscow State University. Laboratory head is prof. Yuri.M. Bayakovsky. Laboratory possesses solid research experience in many areas of computer graphics, machine vision, image and video processing.

Grant of the President of the Russian Federation

Anton Konushin has been awarded a grant of the President of the Russian Federation for the young scientists. The topic of the project is "Content-based search in video archives". Vladimir Kononov will be a collaborator in this grant.

PCL and Trimble Code Sprint 2012

Sergey Ushakov and Alexander Velizhev won the competition for participation in development of Point Cloud Library (http://pointclouds.org) within Code Sprint 2012, sponsored by Trimble company. The Point Cloud Library (PCL) is a standalone, large scale, open source project for 3D point cloud processing. Sergey and Alexander will implement and integrate into the library two modern algorithms for 3D point cloud segmentation.

GML C++ Camera Calibration Toolbox

A new version of “GML C++ Camera Calibration Toolbox” has been released. Now the toolbox supports multiple calibration patterns within one project. During calibration a relative orientation between pattern coordinate systems is recovered. The usage of multiple patterns makes the calibration procedure more stable. This improves calibration accuracy. Also, less images for calibration is needed.. Read more

Microsoft Research Computer Vision Contest

We are pleased to announce that the registration for Microsoft Research Computer Vision Contest 2012. Registration deadline is January 15, 2012.
Students are encouraged to apply their imagination and passion to create novel technological solutions using Kinect for Windows. Demonstrate creativity in your choice of a challenging problem, as well as your computer vision skills! Submission deadline is February 28, 2012.
The authors of the top 5 works will travel to Cambridge (United Kingdom) for the Microsoft PhD Summer School 2012.

Congrats to Elena Tretyak

Master Thesis of our student Elena Tretyak "Geometric image parsing in man-made environments" won the first prize at the competition of Master Thesises at CMC MSU. The work was supported by Microsoft Research and supervised by Olga Barinova and Anton Konushin. Congrats to Lena! Thesis and presentation are available in Russian.

Summerschool submission is over

The submission is now over! Competition was particularly stiff this year. The number of registrations at the school website exceeded 500 and the overall acceptance rate was less than 20%. Many of the applications were very strong and the decision was particularly difficult. 82 students have been selected for participation in the school, representing 32 cities from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus and 48 academic institutions and companies.
